SchoolStart Staff

The following SchoolStart leaders are members of the team serving Colorado. They bring over 20 years of combined experience to starting successful charter schools.  Professionally they bring over 70 years of combined leadership in non-profits, educational improvement, and entrepreneurship within the public service sector.

Dr. Ken Wright: CEO of SchoolStart, Ken brings over 30 years of experience developing education leaders, site based schools, school reform model programs, new charter schools, and the turn-around of existing schools. He has directed the successful strategic development of two other education non-profits. For the Colorado Team, Ken focuses on the development of the Resource School, creating high performance teams serving partner schools. He provides direct services to Partner Schools in the start-up process and in developing high performance founding boards and governing boards and useful accountability systems.

Paul Osterlund: SchoolStart's Director of Special Initiatives, Paul has extensive experience in starting and leading innovative schools. This includes charter schools, independent schools, and regular public schools in the Twin Cities Metropolitan area and in Duluth, Minnesota. Paul has over 25 years experience as a principal in schools which have active site governing boards and parent and community involvement. Centered on the needs of students and their families, Paul is committed to helping students achieve the very best they may achieve academically. Paul understands the values and dreams of the founders of the charter schools we serve and how they may best be reflected and experienced in the schools which he helps develop. By helping schools achieve high academic standards through culturally focused programs, Paul helps them to prepare their students for success in both worlds in which they will live.

Qualified Associates: In addition to these principal members of the Colorado Team, SchoolStart has developed a corps of associates who are the best in their area of expertise.  This group of associates is readily available to our partner schools on a contract basis.
