Has anyone who finished year 11 at one school moved to a new high school to do year 12?
I’m 17 and in year 11 at a senior college sort of school studying year 11 and its really boring. I want more of a real high-school experience for my last year of school but i am scared about moving into a new school for year 12. is it too late? should i stay where i am? if anyone has done this please tell me how it went, just want some opinions, thanks
:)
I can see why you wish to do this. You will enjoy the college-type atmosphere if you go on to university but you only have another year to enjoy a school life and then the chance is gone forever.
I personally never did this but my friend did. Her high school was closed after her second last year of school so she had the choice to go to college for the final year or go to a different school. She chose to move to a different school. I won’t lie, she never found it a breeze but it wasn’t that hard. She did have to adjust to different teaching styles compared with her old school and learn a new layout of the school but it’s not like moving school when you’re younger. People of seventeen/eighteen are more likely to talk to a new person in their class (it also helps that classes are smaller by that stage) and there is less worry about bullying and being left out.
I think you should go for it. I’m actually wondering if you should even consider moving now rather than leaving it until the end of the school year. Remember that, in a school setting, teachers are more likely to support you in exams and coursework than lecturers in a college will.
